I configured the power up mode as 802.3f on the switch. However, the AP still showed full power on the NCC. What could it be?
Check Switch power up mode setting
Check the AP status via SSH/console.
power_source = 2 > af power mode
power_status = 0 > full power
Cehck the AP power mode on NCC
According to the hardware spec of Zyxel switch, the PoE switch can provide 22W for af power mode and 30W for at power mode. When we connect the AP to the switch port, the hardware negotiation is af. After AP finishing booting up, it will send out LLDP-MED to the switch to ask for 18W power.
After receiving the request, the Switch replies that the requested power can be supported. So AP gets 18W power which can make the full functions work, and shows it is full power on the NCC.
That's why we will see the power_source is af(hardware negotiation with switch) and power_status is full(LLDP-MED).
We can see this status via managed and standalone mode if the devices support LLDP-MED.
