Question

Should I configure dedicate VLANs for each wireless application (VoIP/ IP camera/ Employee Network/ Management Network)? Or a single VLAN is enough for all above services?

Answer

To build up a robust network topology, It's important to separate different services into different VLANs.

The reason is, users will suffer from high congestion and long airtime if all services belong to one subnet, where the amount of broadcast and multicast packets are high. When these broadcast/multicast packets flood to the wireless network, they will be sent in lower speeds (comparing to unicast packets) and downgrade the overall wireless performance.

When designing a network topology, it's better to patition difference services into different VLANs, therefore we can reduce the number of  broadcast and multicast packets in each VLAN, preventing poor services from wireless traffic congestion.
