Does WDS support STP?

Question

In the topology below, we want to implement a network using the Ethernet as the primary path, and the WDS link for back-up use.
But actually there's no blocked port displayed on both switches even RSTP is correctly configured .

Answer

The Mesh AP doesn't support STP, due to it won't forward the BPDU from it's Mesh Link. Therefore, the switch can't establish the correct STP topology to decide the block port, and loop will still occur.

Although STP aren't supported, each Repeater AP supports loop detection and prevention through it's proprietary function (enabled by default). After loop topology is detected, repeater AP automatically stops transmitting multicast and broadcast packets from its Mesh link, therefore no storm will occur. Meanwhile, unicast packet can still passing through without blocked, so clients connecting to repeater can still access the Internet without any issue.
