What is the procedure to backup data remotely for NSA series products via Backup Planner with the topology shown below?
NAS(Source) ----- RouterA -----Internet ----- RouterB ----- NAS(Destination)
To be able to use Backup Planner to backup data remotely from source NAS device to destination NAS device though the Internet, port-forwarding rules must be configured correctly on the router, which connects to the destination NAS device.
Port 139 and Port 445 are used for CIFS to transfer data. Port 873 is for RSYNC and port 9527 is for ZySync.
For example, if the topology is NAS(Source) ----- RouterA -----Internet ----- RouterB ----- NAS(Destination), then the 4 port numbers should be configured on RouterB to forward the packets to the destination NAS device via TCP protocol.
Please see below image as an example for 4 port-warding rules created on the router.
Use the "Test Connection" button on the source NAS device to verify.
