Why does the RAID 0/1 volume disappear and not show the HDD information in the web GUI of the NSA?

Problem

Why does the RAID 0/1 volume disappear and not show the HDD information in the web GUI of the NSA?

Solution

If the customer would like to save the data which is located in the HDD, then please refer the KB ID:013308, "How to see data from NSA RAID 1 or JBOD array on Linux?" to save the data, and then use the utility of check HDD health to repair the bad sector.

Moreover, if user can see the HDD information within the Disk management in Linux, but cannot mount it, the possible cause could be that the file system has been lost. The user cannot mount and save the data, only format the HDD and check if there is any bad sectors.

※After the HDD is repaired and formatted, please do NOT continue using it with the NSA series, because the problem might occur again.

Procedure

When the problem occurs, the user cannot see any data from CIFS/FTP/SMB. Check the NSA web interface, and there will be no disk information.

Moreover, check NSA HDD LED, as it may be red or green. The red LED indicates that there are bad sectors in the NSA and you may not be able to mount it. Refer to the User’s Guide for more information about the LEDs.

The NSA has a check function to find bad sectors, and the HDD information is visible via the web interface.
