How to configure Device HA for 3KN series products?

When the NWA-3K-N series AP is in controller mode, device HA lets a backup NWA-3K-N series AP (also in controller mode) automatically take over if the master NWA-3K-N series AP fails.

 

Topology Example:

 

 

Task 1: Log in to NWA-3560N (A) and configure Device HA.

 

  1. Open a web browser to login to the device.

Click on “Configuration> MGNT Mode > Management > AP Controller” and then set the management mode to AP controller.

   Tip: default IP:  https://192.168.1.2

 

 

2. Configure LAN setting to assign IP address.

   Click on “Configuration> LAN Setting >IP Address Assignment” to edit the IP address and then press “Apply” button.

 

IP: 192.168.1.70    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

 

3. Choose “Device HA” and then edit “Active-Passive Mode”.

   “Configuration> Device HA> Active-Passive Mode”. 

 

 

   Device Role: Master

   Cluster ID: 1

   Choose interface and edit.

 

Enable “Monitored Interface” and then configure the IP address.

   Manage IP: 192.168.1.75

   Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

 

 

Configure Synchronization

Password: 1234

 

4. Click on “General” and then enable “Device HA”.

 

 

Task 2: Log in to NWA-3560N (B) and configure Device HA.

 

1. Open a web browser to log in to the device.

Click on “Configuration> MGNT Mode > Management > AP Controller” and then set the management mode to AP controller.

   Tip: default IP:  https://192.168.1.2

 

2. Configure LAN setting to assign IP address.

   Click on “Configuration> LAN Setting >IP Address Assignment” to edit IP address and then press the “Apply” button.

 

IP: 192.168.1.70 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

 

3. Choose “Device HA” and then edit “Active-Passive Mode”.

   “Configuration> Device HA> Active-Passive Mode”. 

 

 

Device Role: Backup and press “Apply” button.

Cluster ID: 1

Choose interface and edit.

 

Enable “Monitored Interface” and then configure the IP address.

   Manage IP: 192.168.1.76

   Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

 

 

   Server Address: 192.168.1.70

   Server port: 21

   Password: 1234

   Click on the “Apply” button.

 

4. Click on “General” and then enable “Device HA”.

 

 

5. Click the “Sync. Now” button to sync with Master controller. 

 

Device HA synchronization is successful.

 

 

6. Make sure HA status of NWA-3560N (B) is “Backup / Stand-By”.

 

 

Task 3: Connect and set up a managed AP.

 Enter management IP address of Master and backup controllers.

 Then press “Apply” button. 

 

 

Task 4: If the master NWA-3560N (A) fails, the backup NWA-3560N (B) will automatically take over.

 

 Check HA status of NWA-3560N (B) is “Backup / Active”.
